When Maria is discovered by talent scouts, the first person she wants to tell is Michael.

These feelings for Maria scare him a great deal, and he simply doesn’t know how to deal with them. He didn't think about her like that at all, but suddenly he is making out with her and sleeping with her. The Max we knew and loved would never have done that. By doing this, he gets Tess pregnant. The episode ends on a stunning cliff-hanger: After a whole season of venomous insults and hilarious barbs, Max and Kyle drunkenly sleep together.
