After we got through that, it was a relatively intense climb to the peak. The hike was 6 miles long and not 5.3 miles and it will take about 3-5 hours. We also spent about 45 mins at the top having lunch. At the top you'll get to the "false summit" and be able to see up to the actual summit, which seems like a long way away after that scramble up the boulder field!

That cairn will be your reference point when coming back down. :) Nicely marked and beautiful scenery towns along the trails are very rider friendly Williamson was a great town to stay in as it was close to the trailhead. Excellent, 360-degree views from the top! We were lucky enough to see a moose within 20 ft of us while we were traversing the charred remains of the trees.

No streams to cross, paths are well marked and easy to maneuver when passing by fellow hikers. I highly recommend this trail. It took us about 1 hour from the car park to the boulder field and then another hour from there to the top. So gorgeous at sunset with the fog over the mountains! beautiful views at the top.

We took the longer trail up (2.2) and the shorter one down (probably less than a mile). The hike up through the charred forest at daybreak was really cool looking, and on the way back down you can see the multitude of wildflowers growing there. Also, AllTrails says this hike is 5.3 miles. While riders will be allowed on the trails, all trailhead facilities and welcome centers, as well as the visitor center for the trail …

This 12-mile linear trail is moderate to difficult and not recommended for beginners. The boulder field was impressive. only 2.1 miles round-trip with a HUGE payoff. Buffalo Mountain is a singletrack mountain bike trail in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Great experience.

Strava clocked the trail at 6.8 miles. Reasonably fit adults should be able to complete this trail in under 6 hours, with breaks.

I highly recommend this hike for all hikers .

...that's going to vary from person to person. I give the title because there's nothing extraordinary about my fitness, and the climb doesn't have any specific elements that cannot be accomplished. Anyone saying it’s longer is not using a good GPS. The boulder field was a lot of fun and the view at the top was amazing. Neither were very difficult. Highly recommend having real hiking boots. This trail was great!

We chose the established (mapped) trail. The staging area is small and open for day use only but is paved and has a loading ramp and self pay kiosk station.. If this happens to you, stay to the right of the false summit flag and you’ll be fine.

I would have loved to follow them in any direction.

four kids ages 10-9-7-6 loved it. Well-marked trails. Buffalo Mountain Trail is a 8.7 kilometer heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Silverthorne, Colorado that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as difficult. A fee of $5.00

Ascended the red (easier) trail, and descended on the blue (steeper) trail. I've heard people say that this hike is more difficult than some fourteeners, and in some ways I agree: the boulder scramble, although not terribly technical, isn't something you'll find on Grays/Torreys - BUT Grays/Torreys is also almost twice as long. there are also plenty of logs and rocks to take a break if you need the rest Beautiful Trail .

Something else new is the peak now has restricted zones marked with cables, I'm guessing to preserve the plantlife. The park functions as a nature preserve primarily for hiking, picnicking, and nature programs.

it took two hours out and back at a short kid leg pace, but we spent a considerable amount of time at the top enjoying the views and eating our packed snack.Nice trail. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.Once you get to Moles Rd - stay on it for about 1.5 miles - (use your odometer not your gps - it is inoperable here) until you see the proper brown signs leading to the natural area preserve.
