Since the vets can't do it, they hold Mariam while feeding her milk and then make her swim around to exercise her digestion system. Her human friends also use an orange canoe, which has been nicknamed "Mother Orange", so she can follow it in the water for exercise. She has "learned to adjust to the environment" and no longer gets stranded on the beach, however, the vet said that she would require their care for at least another year.Another stranded baby dugong was rescued in Krabi earlier this week. Mariam became an internet sensation after photos showing her being cradled by the vets surfaced on social media.
